Cool video, but your builds must be annoying for other teammates :P
Meanwhile, i got one more point in HoM and started gathering Amber, probably will have some spare to give to people as well. Maybe also some stuff for Black Moa Chick quest.

This thread is best here for being able to reply to each other.... but imo, the way it is going down is just like those other free give-away events (like the riddles and such).

That wasn't anywhere in the post. *cough* shady fix it please *cough*

The details of exactly HOW people will be selected to recieve prizes is still up in the air. I mentioned that I'll be talking to people 1 on 1, and I will, but the details of WHO that will be (prize winners, just any old person I see, etc) is still up in the air. I should have more to say about that next week, but until then, I think it's sufficient to stat that I won't be giving away anything until the giveaway, and that if people want prizes they should keep their eye on the event.

Well my build actually did a bit better than we let on in this video. I went on a small streak a couple of times.
Hoff is just bad. It doesn't matter what build he uses.
Either way, though, I'm all for people making their own builds, bad or not. I think it's a darn shame when people just get builds off of a guide and run them. It's like letting someone else build your MTG deck. :P

This is a great idea! I'm currently 10/50 but just sold lots of stuff and have the money to be 16/50 by the end of the week

Love this. I'm already done with HoM and GWAMM and whatever but I like helping people with theirs so If I come across some HoM items I'd gladly donate them.

If it's just any old person you see, I'll waive my usual rate of $1.99 per min, and whisper sweet nothings all night long. Kinda like Stewie Griffin, but I don't see the need to be in drag to do it. Wigs are just too itchy... but the undergarments are soft and silky, so it isn't all bad...
I'm curious what the "new" grand prize is, if the old one was Zkeys (of which I would want 125/200). I'm hoping that means Zkeys will be in the plenty.

I did something similar with my winnings from this year and the way I selected people was like this:
I had to set some rules first:
#1 Has to be Necro (you can obviously skip that since you're making it public)
#2 Has to have between 15-25 points in his/her HoM (lower is probably not putting too much effort in it and higher can probs finish the last few points on his/her own)
#3 Must not be in posession of Vabbian or Obsidian armor, Tormented weapons or zaishen title (this can be a rough primer to see if the player has enough cash to support themselves)
#4 General reaction: after checking out people's HoM and finding the one that fit I would send them a pm asking: "Hey there, working hard on your HoM?" and from the general conversation we got from there on I would decide in what way I would donate to this person. (might be difficult for you for going public with it)
Note: these rules were not set in stone but made my pickings more fun and organized.
Anyway I would like to donate 200 Zkeys to your Giving spree (IGN sent by pm)

lol, I would have hated #3. I worked really hard to get a Tormented weapon first, so as I wouldn't have to do it ever again. From your criteria, you'd assume I would be set for the rest.

I like these criteria. Not only because i fit :P. I think it is important that whatever people (and me) give away, it should go to people that can make use of it. 10-15 points is easy to do, and considering amount of time left until GW2 launch, it's more than doable. Over 25, well, if you are there already, you can get this 5 points by yourself no problem.

I happen to have Tormented weapon in my HoM, but it was a gift.
I met a kind soul in game that helped me with War in Kryta, and gave me an Armbrace of Truth (had no idea what it is at that point, thanks for the wiki) and Fire Drake miniature as a bonus.
Other than that I managed to get my HoM up to 16 (nailed to a chair for the last 3 weeks), and I'm starting to doubt I can go much further (especially with GW2 pre-purchase beta events on the horizon, and spring outside the window).
The amount of grind required is killing me (looks like I started a bit too late to make this process painless), I hope this giveaway event, can help and ease that a bit.

Why no Vabbian? To me this was the easiest thing to get because i had never used the rubies/saphires ive gotten while questing.
I recently got back to GW just to get items into HoM.
So i bought EotN to my account and started hoarding points.
I got to 21/50 points and realised that the things i put effort in getting didn't matter much for points.
I have 10 characters and ive managed to do most sidequests and missions with them. I also got all the prof. specific skills to them in pve. But getting skills unlocked only matters if you got them on 1 character. Why isn't that account based? What's the point on getting all ele skills to a freakin' warrior for example?
Nevertheless it's nice to see that someone is making such a giveaway event.
It sure would be nice to get any prestige weapon, since i currently have no dedicated weapons.
See you on the event.

Curious how you got all those rubies/sapphires questing. I recently went through nightfall for the statue, and got none.
Nice.. 200 Zkeys. Would love those for that title.. 3 points! A pvp title is so hard to get should have been lesser points imo.

You get trade contracts as a quest reward in vabbi. And those you can trade in for rubies&saphires. Also multiply this with my 10 characters and you get more than enough for 1 set of armor.

Sounds grindy. I have a big problem with time management.
The skill collection is a pain. And I mean basic skill collection for a beginner, not even trying for Skill Hunter. 1k and 1 skill point.... I can either use my skill points to make a conset, or try to make a better build to not die.
Add that up a few times to get myself half-way decent skills and heroes, and I just ran around most of the map and wasted a day. Plus I used up money and made none back.
I'm not fond of the mechanics. Nothing feels intuitive, even after learning the basics, and it feels like work--not playing a game.
And good luck trying to do RA or something and not be called a leecher for trying to play. Once I saw the PvP community of GW, I realized they beat the WoW community hands-down in rudeness.
To think they will be in GW2.... I'd rather deal with the WoW children then the GW nerd-ragers.

Yeah.. What I thought when I read it. There is too much grind in some aspects in Guildwars. What I would advise someone trying to make money is just do Jade quarry.. Couple of hours you can get about 6 Zkeys depending on which side the botters are more rampant. You can also make a SoS build, and easily farm ataxes/dhums in Underworld. One aspect I look forward to in gw2 is that there is no holy trinity so the pvp will be more relaxed to a degree. I enjoyed the pvp in guildwars, and did plenty of it. I just never did the end game of it since I could never team up without having a rank 6+ gladiator or sorts.

I guess my way of getting the Vabbian by doing side quests may seem a bit grindy. But considering i've had this game since it came out theres been plenty of time to do it.
There is alot of grind in this game if you want titles and play alone half of the time because not everyone in guild wants the same quests the same time.
I also have very high hopes for GW2, but i can't deny theres been quite alot of fun times in GW as well.

After almost 4 weeks of play (all campaigns, War in Kryta, Hearts of the North, Furnance of Sorrows done, Winds of Change in progress, and Fissure of Woe in line for the weekend) I ended with no mini drops, barely enough medals for 2 opressor weapons, and rare crafting materials in total of 2 sapphires, 0 rubies, 0 diamonds, 0 ectos, 0 obsidian shards, 1 jade chunk, and 16 amber chunks (from vanquishing Echovald areas and trading reputation).
Kurzick/Luxon armor is doable with moderate grind, but I don't see myself getting even close to Vabbian or Obsidian armor...
My view of GW1 varies from hour to hour, from fun and engaging through irritation and frustration to total devastation and despair (like when I accidently salvaged my Asuran leggins to utter nothingness BEFORE I managed to dedicate the armor at HoM).
